Greetings and welcome to the 296th House of Alpha! Thank you so much for exploring our website to learn more about the Theta Upsilon Lambda chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. I am Brother John Key, current Chapter President. Rounding out the executive board are Brothers P.J. Hardy (Vice President), Dr. Wayne Walker (Treasurer), Dr. Khalid Griffin (Secretary) and Clifford Clarke (Corresponding Secretary). Thank you to Brother Frank Lipsey for his leadership as past president prior to my appointment. As many of you know, navigating COVID has been an extreme challenge. Now that we are experiencing a semblance of normalcy, we have recommitted to the ideals and principles of our beloved fraternity: manly deeds, scholarship and love for all mankind. Thus, we have (once again) begun to take on the challenge of helping serve the Fort Wayne community. Over the course of the last year, we have raised funds for the March of Dimes Bowl for Kids Sake, supported Black owned businesses through a joint venture with the Panhellenic council, spearheaded the Thanksgiving dinner event at the Euell Wilson Center and had multiple voter registration events through our “A Voteless People is a Hopeless People” national program. We were also able to partner with the Bloom Project to share with their young men our national program entitled “Project Alpha” where we were able to lead them through activities and conversations ranging from teen pregnancy to entrepreneurial endeavors. We also participate in the yearly Black Greek Letter Organization Picnic in order to build community with our Divine 9 brothers and sisters. In addition to our work to support the community, we also rely on the community to join us to help raise funds for our yearly scholarship event that provides $3,000 to graduating seniors. We look forward to your support of our “Golf for Good” event that occurs in late summer and our “Black and Gold Scholarship Ball” that takes place in the spring. Through your support, we are able to recognize and celebrate two deserving scholars each year. For more information about our events and sponsorhip opportunites email us at: TUL1906@gmail.com, or contact one of the distinguished men of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc. Return here to read about the manly deeds we are doing in the community. Theta Upsilon Lambda (TUL) has a very rich legacy of community service, advocacy, and leadership in the greater Fort Wayne metropolitan area. The chapter members work diligently throughout each year in donating their time, talents, and finances to these events that benefit our community by providing advocacy, awareness, and assistance to those who are underserved and most in need. Thank you and God Bless! Bro. John Key Chapter President Having been founded in 1966 on the wake of the Civil Rights Movement, TUL has survived turbulent times of racial division, discrimination, and inequalities by remaining viable, proactive, and steadfast to the vision and goals established over 116 years ago by our 7 Fraternity Founders reverently known as the “Jewels.” TUL want all local brothers to enjoy this rich legacy with your participation in our numerous annual activities and special events. TUL continues to develop leaders in our community. "Onward and Upward..." |
